For the month of July, Whole Foods has partnered with Vitamin Angels for the fourth year to donate vitamins to those who need it the most—pregnant women, new mothers and children under five. All which are living in developing countries where the need exists greatly.
Having been born in one of the smallest and most densely populated countries in Central America, El Salvador. I can truly appreciate it when good people with big hearts step in to help those who need it. I know when it was truly a developing country that my parents and their parents took advantage of goodwill. I was lucky to have come to Canada but, I know that even now that El Salvador has grown, poverty still exists–just as it does all over the world.
About the Partnership:
Whole Foods Market will donate 25 cents to Vitamin Angels with each purchase of a Whole Foods Market and 365 Everyday Value™ supplement. Twenty-five cents* is all it takes to provide A to a child for an entire year.
Vitamin A is important for immune function and vision, yet approximately 190 million children under five in developing countries are deficient in this essential nutrient. This year, Vitamin Angels hopes to supply 30 million children with vitamin A.*The figure of $0.25 refers to the cost of reaching one child with two doses of vitamin A through Operation 20/20. Two doses of vitamin A per year can alleviate vitamin A deficiency (VAD) in children under five who are at risk.
